Court remands 2 for smoking Indian hemp in Osogbo
A Magistrate court in Osogbo, Osun State has remanded two young men, Suraju Adeniyi and Lateef Olaitan at Ilesha prison for allegedly smoking Indian hemp and causing public disturbance. The Prosecutor, Sergeant Sunday Ajayi told the court that the 39-year-old Adeniyi and 25-year-old Olaitan were said to have conducted in a manner that could break public peace on the 5th of October, 2017 at Asoje Area, Osogbo. Ajayi explained that the offence committed by the accused persons is contrary to and punishable under section 249 (D) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Volume II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003. The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charge of breach of public peace levelled against them. Their counsel, Mrs. Raji Abiodun applied for the bail of the accused in the most liberal terms.
